Bartolo Valastro Jr. also, known as Buddy Valastro, is a well-known American Baker and television personality. He was born in March 3, 1977, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to his Italian father Bartolo Valastro Sr. and his Italian-American mother, Mary Valastro.

He grew up in New Jersey along with his four sisters: Grace, Mary, Maddalena, and Lisa. His fame skyrocketed after he starred in a reality show named Cake Boss.

Buddy spent his early life in Little Ferry, New Jersey. He went to Ridgefield Park High School, and later, he took baking courses at Bergen Country Technical High School at Teterboro Campus.

He seemed to have an interest in baking from an early age since his family business was all about baking and had a bakery named Carlo’s Bakery. Valastro started working at his family’s business at the tender age of 11 and took over the business at the age of 17 upon his fathers’ death in 1994.

Buddy Valastro acquired fame after his bakery Carlo’s Bakery got featured in a TLC show named ‘Cake Boss,’ which premiered in April 2009. He also featured in other TV shows such as ‘Kitchen Boss’ in the year 2011, Next Great Baker in the year 2010, and Buddy’s Bakery Rescue in the year 2013.

Parents.

Buddy Valastro is of Italian heritage since both his parents, Bartolo Valastro Sr. and Mary Valastro-Piccinch, were both Italian.

Father.

His father, Bartolo Valastro Sr., was born on 31 December 1939. He was a family man living with his family in Little Ferry and bought Carlo’s Bakery from Guastaferro, the former owner, in 1963.

After the bakery operation for more than 25 years, he moved the bakery to more centrally located Washington Street from the quiet Adams Street spot in Hoboken.

This brought more fame and fortune to the bakery, attracting more and more customers each day.

Sadly, he died in 1994 at age 54, three months after being diagnosed with lung cancer, and the business was taken over by his son Buddy.

Mother, Mary Valastro-Piccinch.

His mother, Mary Valastro-Piccinch, was born on April 17, 1948, in Altamura, Bari, Italy. A longtime resident of Hoboken, New Jersey, she was employed by the Carlo’s Bakery, where she met her first husband, Bartolo Valastro Sr.

The pair would go on to welcome five children: Grace, Maddalena, Mary, Lisa, and Bartolo, “Buddy” Valastro.

With the bakery becoming stronger in Hoboken, Mary and Buddy Sr. quickly became pillars of the community. Most known for her larger-than-life personality, Mary was beloved by many and won over the hearts of millions of people on the television show ‘Cake Boss.’

Mary was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2011. The subsequent charitable organization was created in her name, the Momma Mary Foundation, which raised awareness of neurodegenerative disease worldwide.

She passed away on June 22, 2017, at the age of 69.

Siblings.

Bartolo has an elder sister named Grace, who was born on June 30, 1966. She is known for being the counter manager of the family’s Carlo’s Bakery.

She is currently married to the head baker of the same bakery, Joe Faugno.

Buddy’s second sister is Maddalena Castano, who was born on the 15th of August 1967. She is a desk worker at Carlo’s Bakery, who has also appeared in her family’s cook show. Maddalena is currently married to a chef named Mauro Castano.

Likewise, Buddy has a third older sister named Mary Sciarrone, who was born on the 30th of September, 1969. She is a cake consultant at Carlo’s Bake Shop and has made numerous appearances in reality shows.

Mary is currently married to Joe Sciarrone.

Bartolo’s fourth sister is Lisa Gonzalez. Unfortunately, there appears to be no information regarding her life.

Married Life and Children.

Buddy Valastro is happily married to Lisa Valastro for more than two decades. They tied the knot on October 14, 2001. Lisa rose to prominence by marrying Buddy and also appearing on numerous shows like TLC’s Cake Boss, Kitchen Boss, The Chew, etc. Similarly, she has her own podcast called What’s up Cuz?

The happy couple is blessed with four children; Sofia, Bartolo “Buddy” III, Marco, and Carlo. They reside in Montville, New Jersey.

Sofia is the eldest daughter in the family who aspires to be a brilliant chef like his father. Likewise, Bartolo “Buddy” III is their second child, who is currently a high schooler.

The third son, Marco, has a knack for cooking delicious dishes and steaks, and Carlo is the youngest in the family.
